Before You Book

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions hunters actually ask before booking, answered straight.

Tags & the Draw

Do I need to draw a tag to hunt with you?

For most species, yes. Nevada is a draw state, so elk, mule deer, antelope, and bighorn sheep tags are applied for months before the season. Mountain lion is the exception: tags are over the counter.

Which hunts can I book without drawing a tag?

Mountain lion. Tags are over the counter and good statewide, two per person per calendar year, and the season runs year-round. You can also book a no-kill photo lion hunt with the hounds. See the lion hunt.

Can Justin help me with the draw?

Call or text Justin, or send an inquiry, well ahead of the deadline. He’ll talk through species, units, and seasons with you. For how the NDOW draw itself works, see draw application help.

When are the Nevada draw deadlines?

NDOW sets them each year. For 2026, the main big game draw closed May 13 with results by May 29, and the non-resident guided mule deer draw closed March 9. Applications are made online at ndowlicensing.com. See draw application help for the full calendar and sources.

How much are tags and licenses?

Tags and licenses are paid to the Nevada Department of Wildlife, not to the outfitter. For example, a non-resident hunting license is $155 and a resident license is $38. See the full price tables, and confirm current prices with NDOW before you apply.

The Hunts

Which hunt units do you hunt?

Elk, mule deer, and antelope units across Lincoln and White Pine counties and neighboring country, including Unit 231 next to Pioche. See all hunt units for the species and seasons in each.

What species do you guide?

Elk, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, mountain lion, and Nelson desert bighorn sheep, all in eastern Nevada. Each species has its own page with season dates and units: elk, mule deer, antelope, mountain lion, and bighorn sheep.

Do you offer cow elk and spike bull hunts?

Yes. We offer bull, cow elk, and spike bull packages.

When is the best time to hunt mountain lion?

The season is year-round, but winter is best, when there’s snow on the ground. That’s when we’d rather be in the mountains.

Can I go on a lion hunt without killing a cat?

Yes. Book a no-kill photo hunt. You get the hound work and the cat in the tree, and you leave the tag in your pocket.
