The Draw, Explained

How Nevada Tags Work

Nevada is a draw state for most big game. That means the planning starts long before the season does.

  1. Draw Species

Elk, mule deer, antelope, and Nelson desert bighorn sheep tags are draw only. You apply months before the season, and NDOW sets the application deadline each year.

  2. Plan Early

Draw odds are tough, especially for mule deer and sheep. Call or text Justin before the deadline to talk through species, weapon, and units.

  3. Or Skip the Draw

Mountain lion tags are over the counter and good statewide, two per person per calendar year. The lion season runs year-round, and there’s a no-kill photo hunt option too.

For application periods, bonus points, and the non-resident guided mule deer draw, see Nevada draw application help. For every season window in one place, see season dates.
