The Town
Ely, on the Loneliest Road
Ely sits on U.S. 50, the “Loneliest Road in America,” and got its start as a Pony Express outpost before copper mining took over in the early 1900s. Travel Nevada calls out the hunting nearby, the Nevada Northern Railway in town, and Great Basin National Park a little over an hour east.
U.S. 93 runs between Ely and our home base in Pioche. NDOW notes that Ely has most supplies and a full range of services, which makes it the place to stock up before heading into the White Pine County units.

What We Hunt Here
Species Near Ely
Elk
Elk is the big draw in White Pine County. We guide Nevada elk hunts in 111–115, 104, 108, 121, 131–132, 221–223, and 231, with archery, muzzleloader, and rifle seasons. NDOW calls Unit 111 the biggest elk population in its group. Tags come through the NDOW draw.
Mule Deer
We hunt mule deer in 114–115, 131–134, 221–223, and 231. Early in the year, NDOW says most deer in 221–223 are in the high country of the Schell Creek and Egan ranges, so be ready to hike high and pack out a long way. Draw tag.
Antelope
Pronghorn in 115, 131–134, 221–223, and 231: wide-open valleys where you glass big ground, find a mature buck, and close the distance. Draw tag.
Mountain Lion
Lion tags are over the counter and good statewide, 2 per person per calendar year. The season is year-round, and we hunt lions behind our hounds, best on winter snow. No-kill photo hunts too.
Desert Bighorn
A Nelson desert bighorn tag is a once-in-a-lifetime draw. Where we hunt depends on the unit your tag is for, so call or text us to talk through it.
Seasons & Tags

Roads & Rules
U.S. 50 and U.S. 93 meet at Ely. Off the highway, expect dirt and two-track roads of varying roughness. NDOW recommends high-clearance vehicles and extra spare tires. Wilderness areas like the High Schell and Mount Moriah are closed to vehicles and wheeled game carts, and there’s no hunting in Great Basin National Park.
